About Lorne Cross, MD

Lorne Cross, MD is a healthcare professional living in Portland, Oregon specializing in Addiction Medicine with a focus Medication Assisted Treatment. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Willamette Valley Treatment Center. Here, he leads a team of others who are dedicated to fighting the current opioid crisis. In addition to this position, he also serves as Medical Director of a new program at the Yamaha County Jail, where inmates with opioid addiction are offered treatment in a way that helps prevent relapse and lower the rate of recidivism in the jail population. Starting when he was a child, Lorne had a fascination with science and a desire to help people. Those combined to lead him to a career in medicine.

Outside of his work, Lorne Cross, MD is an avid cyclist and bicycle racer. He is passionate about travel and sports and loves cooking healthy meals with his family and two teenaged children.

  • Research during residency with Dan Cole, MD, in the Department of Anesthesiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center, comparing the cerebral protective effects of thiopentone, methohexital, and pentobarbital in the rat model of focal cerebral ischemia. Findings published in Canadian Journal Of Anesthesia, vol. 48:8, pp. 807-814.
  • Research with Eloy Schulz, MD, in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center, investigated the influence of fluoride on the density of Vertebral cortex vs. trabeculae in osteoporotic patients. Findings published in Clinical Research, vol. 39, p. 100.
